MAKING CAREER CHOICES AS A TEENAGER: THE DILEMMA.

The career choice of teenagers is influenced by many factors, including life context, personal aptitudes and educational attainment. This developmental milestone is critical in the lives of teenagers.

The career choices that teenagers make is embedded in their perception of the "ideal job" and their abililty to make certain career decision. Initially, career decision making used to be a cultural developmental task that teenagers were expected to have accomplished by the end of their high school year. These days, it's more challenging than ever for teens to choose the right career path due to not having a lot of real life experience and self awareness to help guide them towards making choices that are just right for them.

The career world is constantly evolving these days as a result of accelerating technological innovation, a fluctuation in the economy and the aftermath of the pandemic. The end result, most times is the problem of many teenagers struggling to find their purpose during and after high school.

Ways Teenagers Can Attain Right Decision Making In Their Career.

1. Make Choices Based On Who You Are: This one is important, although you may have big dreams and plans for yourself. You are not merely on extension of your parents or a projection of their choices , hopes and wishes. You are the most important person in your life and you need to make choices for yourself. Make choices based on who you are and what makes you unique.

2. Explore Your Strength and Passion: Choosing the right career does not have to be a difficult task. If you have trouble making a decision, a great first step is to make a list of your strengths, interests and passions . Once you have a list, it becomes much more easier to come up with possible career options that might be right for you.

3. Get A Mentor: If you have an interest in a particular field, a great way to learn more and discover if it is really the right path for you is to get connected with prospective mentors in the field. You can do this with the help of your parents, older siblings, guardians or any other person.

In conclusion, be patient, be enthusiastic and put it great effort in doing well at school; that should be your priority at the moment while nursing your talent and passion by the side. It’s okay to have multiple interest at this stage of your life, but what is more important is to remain focused as you grow older.

See you at the top!
